Full-time Locum Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns surgeon with main responsibilities for Burns and Complex Limb Trauma Reconstruction for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The main focus of this post is adult and paediatric burns surgery, with additional areas of responsibility in support of lower limb trauma, microvascular reconstruction and general plastic surgery
Main duties of the job
This post is to support provision of burns and lower limb trauma reconstruction at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The post holder will join an established burns team, including three other Consultants, within the Burns Units (Adult at NUH City Campus and Paediatrics at NUH Queens Medical Centre) with responsibility for delivery of the acute and reconstructive burns service. They will also join the team providing lower limb reconstruction service and have general plastic surgery commitments. Additional commitment to Consultant-level support of the day-to-day emergency surgery cover will be expected. Other Consultant cross-cover will be required on a flexible basis.
Working for our organisation
The Plastics service covers mid-Trent with an approximate catchment population of 1.5 million, taking patients not only from Nottingham Health Authority but also from Health Authorities covering the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, plus some patients from further afield.
The department delivers care for the major trauma service and up to Burns Unit level care for a population of 6 million.
Emergency Department (ED) and the East Midlands Major Trauma Centre is based at QMC campus and opened in Apr 2012. It is one of the busiest trauma centres in England with ED and Trauma & Orthopaedics co-located onsite at QMC. Complex orthoplastic lower limb trauma reconstruction is provided onsite by a team of plastic surgeons with dedicated trauma commitments throughout the week, though all consultants are expected to be able to attend for urgent requests out-of-hours when on call.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
