This is an exciting opportunity for a consultant to get involved in a developing Community Mental Health team. The team delivers care for a broad range of mental health presentations for both brief and complex interventions.
The post holder will work closely with the medical team including an acting Consultant Psychiatrist and NMP working in the Adult Community team. The post holder will also work closely with the Acute Services, General Practitioners and with other community based teams.
The Waveney Recovery Team is an established Community Mental Health Team for working age adults in Lowestoft and the surrounding area.
Adult community mental health services are concerned with the care of people with a variety of significant mental health problems. Referral to the service is via Primary care and also Acute wards and the Crisis Resolution team.
The multidisciplinary mental health team will hold expert knowledge on the safe operation of the mental health act and provide expertise to mental capacity assessments.
The typical referral rate is approximately 40 per month. The triage and assessments are generally carried out by mental health practitioners in the first instance; afterwards they may seek the views of the consultant or request for a medical review if appropriate. This post is supported by a non-medical prescriber.
